A Look at the Wine Producing Countries
There are quite a few wine producing countries in the world apart from the better known France. A few even have as long a history of wine production as France itself. For the others, the new comers to the wine industry with little to no history of wine making, the wines from these countries are called New World Wines.
The countries that are most involved in wine productivity are, in no particular order, France, Alsace, Beaujolais, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, The Loire, The Rhone, The Midi Provence & Corsica, Jura & Savoie, Italy, Spain, United States, California, Oregon, and Washington. Other states where you find not as much wine Production include Australia, South Africa, Germany, Austria, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Brazil, Hungary, Romania, Portugal, and Greece
France as most people will know is the most well known of the wine producing countries and has a rich history where wines are concerned. In fact, in France, wine drinking can be considered a national pastime and many people regularly have to drink at least one to two glasses of wine with their meals. If you look on a wine map you’ll find that most of France is considered to be wine country. And if you take a drive through the French countryside you’ll find this notion reaffirmed as you pass through mile upon mile of vineyard, all blending one into the other.
Although there are more places in the United States that grow and produce their own wines, Napa Valley wines are the ones that have garnered the most favor and the most attention of wine drinkers around the world. Located in the northern part – not the far north – of the state of California, Napa Valley is a perfect breeding ground for wine grapes.
And here, as in the countryside of France, if you take a drive through you’ll find your eye held captive by row upon row of endless grape vines stretching out as far as the eye can see. And if you look through this new world wine producing history, you’ll find that Californian Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon are highly thought of as wines.
Fairly new into the world wine market, Australia has nevertheless been producing wines for domestic use for some time now. However, with the growing popularity for all things Australian nowadays, Australian wines have come out from under the bushes, and even now, shines its fruity light on the world. As you might have guessed from that the more popular Australian wines tend to be that of the sweet fruity wines. Besides which Australian wines have also gained a reputation for being low priced for high quality, and you really can’t ask for more than that.
